PREPARATION(S) FOR A DINNER 2025-2026

Residency and intervention at the ICA San José, November-December 2025. The space is transformed into an evolving site of studying domestic labor and practicing anticipation. Part of the ongoing Revolution is a Dinner Party series, the installation remains in a state of flux, guided by an absent hostess who communicates through manuals and announcements. Visitors encounter changing scenarios and instructions, announced by audio and posters where simple acts of setting a table or preparing a meal are reframed as political and emotional gestures.

REVOLUTION IS A DINNER PARTY

Solo exhibition at the Palo Alto Art Center, Glass Gallery, May- August 2024. The domestic sphere is reclaimed as a site of political and social inquiry. By centering the table as a stage for both intimacy and diplomacy, the project bridges the personal and the political through site-specific installation and community programming. Drawing on the contrasting legacies of the mythological Circe and the historical Eleanor Roosevelt, the work uses the language of hosting to navigate the complexities of identity, memory and displacement. Through salvaged ceramics, archival fragments, and participatory sessions, the exhibition examines how everyday rituals, acts of gathering and sharing, can serve as catalysts for social connection.

FIVE DOMESTIC ACTS

Five Domestic Acts, May 2019. A private residential home is turned into a site-specific study on womanhood and domesticity. An immersive project that unfolds across five distinct interventions, guiding the audience through installation, video, sound, and performance. By reimagining the house as an active emotional landscape, the work blurs the line between inhabitant and observer, private and public.

The project is structured in five parts, focusing on three core acts: The Yellow Wallpaper (durational performance), The Wardrobe Archives (social practice and improv dance), and The Kitchen Diaries, a final act with food preparation and dinner gathering.

THE YELLOW WALLPAPER

Referencing Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s 1892 short story, this durational performance takes place within a private residence and explores historical societal norms surrounding women’s mental health. As an audio reading of the text plays, a performer physically erases words from book pages that have been applied as wallpaper, leaving behind fragments that reveal 19th-century attitudes toward female isolation and controversial treatments. In dialogue with this erasure, a dancer performs a series of movements imagining an alternative fate; one of autonomy and escape.

THE GOLDEN HOMES

December 01, 2025 in selected projects

June- August 2019. A series of photo-based and on-site improvisational performances that explore home, memory, and loss. The work centers on a specific typology of Athenian property: homes in neighborhoods transformed by migration, shifting social patterns, and the aftermath of the Greek economic crisis. Many of these structures are in the process of been repurposed by foreign investment into transient, short-term housing.

The rapid change of ownership and functional status erases a big part of the domestic and cultural identity of these homes but also creates a new ambiguous reality and an anticipated new life. Repositioning the female homemaker and hostess in homes at this transitional stage, is an act of inhabiting a fictional, interim state where the meaning of home is imagined and revisited as a memory. PLAT DU JOUR: A CULINARY ACTION

Plat Du Jour: A Culinary Action, 2018. The project explores the realities of home and female identity through the rituals of food and sustenance bringing together the practices of an artist, a writer and a chef. Drawing from Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s 1903 study, The Home: Its Work and Influence, the work examines domestic dynamics through the lens of the female homemaker.

Food functions as both a medium of labor and a catalyst for social connection. The multimedia exhibition integrates performative acts and live cooking, culminating in a communal dinner.
